School Band Programme
All the children from 3rd to 6th classes are eligible to take part in our School Band Programme. Children do not need to know how to play before they join as they  are taught to play as part of a group. We have many instruments this year- flute, clarinet, violin, keyboard, guitar, recorder, tin whistle and ukulele. The band costs €2 per child (maximum €5 per family) with all monies being reinvested into the School Band Programme. The School Band  made a lovely contribution to the final mass of the mission and also performed for the First Holy Communion on Saturday 25th May in St. Abban’s Church.
The School Band had the end of the year recital to coincide with our Green Flag ceremony. Sixth class played solos and what a great performance it was.  We would like to thank Mrs. Barron,Miss. Delaney and Mr. Power for all their hard work and dedication .

School Choir

On May 17th , the School Choir made their first competitive appearance at the A.I.M.S.  Choral Festival in New Ross and were placed 4th . Well done girls and boys!

On Tuesday 25 th June Adamstown National School raised their first Green Flag for Litter & Waste. The  School Band, led by Ms. Vicky Barron and Ms. Caroline Delaney started the celebrations with an open air recital. This was enjoyed by all the children of the school and a large group of parents who had gathered for the occasion.
School Principal Mr. Nicholas Flynn addressed the gathering and explained how diligently the school had worked over the past three years to attain the Green School status. The Green Flag Committee gathered around the flag poles holding green helium balloons, the most senior members of the green flag committee Fergus and Henry, then raised the Green Flag while the rest of the committee released the balloons. The children and their parents returned to classrooms and the school hall for treats and refreshments  which were provided  by the school parents association.
The Green Flag now proudly flies outside the school.
We are hoping to further reduce our landfill waste as well as increasing  awareness of our Green Schools slogan  ” Don’t be a drag, support our Green Flag” by reducing, reusing and recycling our waste. We are also busy collecting used postage stamps to send over to Sister Helen in Uganda.
