All parents of children in the school are members of the Parents Association.
These parents elect a committee to work on their behalf from one year to the next. The committee consists of a Chairperson, Secretary and Committee Members.
The main roles of the Parents Association are:
Scoil Naomh Abbáin embraces and strongly nurtures the crucial role which parents play in primary education, promoting programmes of activities which involve the parent body in school life. The Parent’s Association also contribute hugely to the resourcing of the school. Here are just some of the ways in which the Parent’s Association have helped resource the school in recent years:
Split the Pot (bi-weekly) / Clothes Recycling Fundraiser / Cake Sale / School Calendar / Christmas Cards / Hunt / Remembrance Tree / Family Fun Evening at the end of school year.
Each year the AGM takes place at the beginning of the school year.
The minutes of the last AGM are read. The Principal and Chairperson of the Board of Management are invited to attend and speak to the parents. It is an opportunity for parents to meet one another and to give feedback on any events planned for the year. The parent association committee share the work done in the past year and account for the money received and spent. Finally a new parent association committee is then elected.
New members are always welcome and are needed each year to ensure the continuation of the work done by previous parent association committees.

- To work in partnership with the Principal, Board of Management and the whole school for the betterment of the children in the school.
- To support and empower parents to be active in the best interests of their children’s educational lives.
